The Practice Firm and Experica History

The History of Practice Firm

The concept of the Practice Firm originated in Europe (Germany) and dates back to the 17th Century, but it was not until 1967 that the concept was officially born. There are approximately 4300 practice firms worldwide existing in countries such as Australia, Brazil, Lithuania, Vietnam and United States.

The Practice Firm ideology was introduced in Canada in 1995. Currently, there are over 35 practice firms operating in Canada. They are situated in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

In 1999, the Vanier Community Service Centre introduced the practice firm concept to Ottawa by opening the first francophone practice firm in Ontario. This practice firm, called Canadart, was designed specifically to serve the needs of the local francophone community and continues to operate successfully.

Experica's History

On September 2, 2003, a second practice firm was established in Ottawa to meet the needs of the Anglophone community. This firm is called "Experica".
